Mt Macedon circuit

Full of history, this fascinating Macedon Regional Park circuit lies on the site of an ancient volcano and includes 3 highpoints in Mt Towrong (m), Camel's Hump (m) and Mt Macedon itself (m) as well as the tranquil Sanitorium Lake. After m of uphill track thru thick forest & ferny slopes, the terrain thins out towards the summit of Mount Macedon and the views of the surrounding landscape become very good. We will visit The Memorial Cross (Victoria's second most important war memorial after The Shrine) then continue on good foot and management tracks. Care is needed so trekking pole(s) are recommended (and bring a snake bandage). A special roped scramble up the Omega Block on Camel's Hump will be offered if the conditions are right - views are excellent.

Meet near Pony Club entrance and small car park on Mullum Mullum Creek (Buck Reserve), Reynolds Road, Donvale (Melways 34 H7) at 7.10 am for a 7.20 am car pool start.

Walk finish will be about 4.15 pm (with arrival back at Donvale by about 5.30 pm).

Those driving direct to the start can meet in Douglas Road (near cnr Mt Macedon Rd) at 8.50 am. Please advise Randall if driving direct (and if you have passengers). Online Bookings are preferred.  Central district.
