Possible snow walk
Cambraville Picnic Ground-Lake Mountain - Ticket Office. Meet at Lilydale carpooling meeting place at 7.15 for a 7.30 departure. The estimated travel time from Lilydale to walk start is approximately minutes.
There is a car shuffle involved with cars being left at Cambraville Picnic ground (see what some people claim is the largest tree in Victoria) and the Lake Mountain ticket office car park. Walk commences at the Lake Mountain turnoff (Marysville to Woods Point Road). The finishing time will largely depend upon weather conditions. Do not expect to be back in Lilydale before 5.30 pm. This walk of approximately 16 kms is through alpine country and approximately half is off track through relatively open country. The weather in June could range from absolutely glorious to wild wet and snowy or somewhere in between. This is alpine country and walkers must be prepared for alpine conditions - good waterproof clothing, gloves, beanie and solid footwear. The walk is graded "Medium 3", but if the weather is bad and/or significant snow is on the ground, some walkers may find the walk to be in the medium/hard category. Torch or headlamp should be carried. Afternoon tea should also be carried as it is unlikely that there will be time for a coffee stop on the way back.
If snow conditions are such that there is substantial snow cover in the area snow shoes will be required.
